Showering Baby at School

Jason, Baby, and I felt spoiled by a beautiful baby shower at school! The social committee worked extra hard to put this one together, since our first date got snowed out in January. February 1st ended up being perfect, since it was just days away from Lily's birth day!

I'm so lucky to work with such a wonderful, supportive group of people. Especially since it feels like just yesterday they were spoiling me with an amazing wedding shower! We got so many sweet gifts for baby, including a personalized frame from the whole staff (to be ordered when we picked a name!), and a fabulous gift certificate to Baby Diaper Service! Here are some pics from the event.

Thanks Dawn and the social committee for putting together a fun event!

Baby's Room...done and done!

Jason's worried it's all about to get real! We declare this room done and ready for a baby!

This all started 2 summers ago when Dad and I built the shelves and painted! Glad we did, since I wasn't allowed to do any painting or construction this summer! Plus I was asleep.

This room is packed with thoughtful gifts, handmade items, and love for baby!!

Looking attractive on the way to prenatal yoga! Well, one of us looks good.

Snow Days! - 34, 35, 36 weeks

We are finally defrosted! We got a LOT of snow up here! School was delayed on Tuesday and cancelled for the next 3 days, which made for almost a week at home.

Baby's 1st Snow Day!
We had fun, but I was happy when the sidewalks finally cleared and I could walk without worrying about falling every time I went outside! We couldn't go sledding like Kenley, but we did scope out some great sledding hills for next time! We kept ourselves busy with mountains of baby laundry, puzzles with mom, made 36 burritos for the freezer and 10 jars of jam with mom, and got lots of other things checked off our list. Including sleep. :)
Things are looking babyish around here! This is a bassinet borrowed from a friend...doesn't it look cute with a snowy background?
We finally ordered bins for the changing table and they are just perfect! I've also re-organized the drawers at least 3 times... Everything is washed and ready!
We moved in the rocker that Dad spruced up for us! He turned a $25 antique store find into just what we needed! Perfect for reading books with baby.
Jason braved the snow to go to TWO Targets to get a stroller we wanted, which we got mostly with gift cards from my students...thank you families! I also had a great shopping date with Mom, Nan, and Kenley. We visited an adorable children's shop in Edmonds, scored a few great items at our local consignment shop, and had a great lunch!
This week we had our 36 week midwife appointment (and we go every week from here on out). She confirmed that baby is still head down (good girl!) and went over our birth plan with us. The midwife checked me and said I am already 80% effaced, 1-2 cm dilated, and she has dropped to -2! She said, "well, you COULD still go to your due date." Yikes! That has definitely gotten us to get our booties in gear. I'm organizing things for my sub at school like crazy, we installed the carseat, and are collecting stuff for the hospital bag! She did say that when labor happens, it will probably be fast. I don't mind if she stays in a little longer. She is comfy, I'm happy, and I'd love to get through the next 3 weeks of school. We'll see what happens!

Baby Shower!

Big Day! Baby Shower Day!
January 7th, 2012
34 weeks

Quite an impressive crew of ladies worked together to throw an adorable shower for Baby and me last weekend! This baby is going to be loved by a village, there is no doubt!
Jason had a secret "appointment" with someone in the morning, and it turned out to be Kristina! It turned out this appointment had to do with Kristina's role as game master... Lucky me, I got to spend a few minutes with her at home. Then we headed off to the shower!
Hello mom! It's hard to get a picture where she's not talking....but so happy she was able to be there! For a minute we were worried she wouldn't be able to be there, but she flew home just in time!
Adorable centerpieces, with little details of cuteness!

Delicious food! Including Mom and Mary's special pea salad recipe...yum!

What an impressive "dessert committee." Lisa and the girls tested recipes for all of December to come up with the perfect creations. Believe me, they were not only beautiful, but delicious!
Game time: Surprise! Kristina recorded Jason answering questions about the baby and me! He is pretty cute, if I say so myself.
What a lucky baby and mommy, we got so many thoughtful gifts. These ladies thought to bring books, blankets, adorable outfits, handmade lovelies, baby essentials, toys, things for the nursery, and more!

A gift from Great Grandma and Grandpa Friesen, a blanket handmade by a friend.
Thank you to all the friends who came to shower baby!

Best party planning team ever! Thanks, Auntie Rachel and Bebe for coordinating the team!

Everyone! (minus Bryna who offered to take the picture!)
Thanks for a great party!!
Every good party needs a fantastic after-party! Love sneaking in a little extra girl time...and some bar hopping while I still can! Thanks ladies!

What a Woman!

This week we lost our beloved Grandma Cay. Grandma and I were both so hoping that she would be able to meet the baby before she went, but in the end they missed each other by just a month. We are thankful that we got to spend some time together in December on this trip, and that we also got to have visits in Cali in January and in Seattle in February.
Grandma and Kenley in January
Jason and I decided 35 1/2 weeks pregnant is not a great time to travel, so we'll be staying home while Dad and Rachel head down today to meet Mom, Grandpa, Cathie, and Chuck for services. We'll be thinking of the fam, and all our special memories with Grandma!
