2 weeks old!

Lots of exciting things happening for a little 2 week old! We've been loving some more awake and alert time with baby. This week she seems to be staring more intently at things, especially faces. We can actually look at each other! We also had a weight check at the pediatrician this week, and Lily is officially back up to birth weight! She weighed 7 lbs, 3 oz.

On Sunday, we took a road trip to Bremerton to see our friends Kendra and Dee and celebrate Baby Erin's adoption! Lily was a trooper and slept for the entire 2 hour drive. It was also the first time we tried to fit 2 car seats in one car! Life is definitely going to be different from here on out with TWO little people.

Baby's first ferry ride! Kenley told Lily everything you need to know about ferries.
On Monday, I got out (alone!) with Elissa to get pedicures (thanks, Mary and Megan!). Jason got Lily all snuggled in the Sleepy Wrap and took Lily to get coffee..and pick up coffee chicks with his cute baby.
We headed up to Marysville to visit Grandpa Ron and Grandma Nan's house for the first time!
Lily says, "Happy Birthday, Grandpa Ron!"
On Thursday, everyone's excited...it's Lily's first trip to the UW! Hooray!
We met Jason and his classmates for lunch. They were SO excited to meet her!

Here we are in front of the education building, Miller Hall.
Baby up front, backpack on back...I felt like a momma on the go!

Lily loves the UW!

Lily's Second Week

Our official due date, February 19th, has finally come and gone, and Lily is already 2 weeks old! As much as I loved being pregnant, I am very thankful not to be now! We survived our first two weeks as parents, and everything seems to be going amazingly well! We are all happy, fed, rested, and clean, but we couldn't have done it without the tons and tons of support we've had! As Grandpa Ron says, "Is this that village everyone is talking about?"
Our village:
Thank you to everyone who has
  • come to visit
  • brought food
  • brought and sent gifts
  • made diaper/grocery/laundry soap/vitamin water runs
  • sent hand-me-downs
  • bought cat food (and reminded us to feed the cat)
  • sat around the baby-on-lights and kept us from going crazy
  • held a sleeping baby so I could shower
  • taken us out to lunch just to get out of the house
  • had flowers delivered
  • taken me out (sans baby!) for a pedicure
  • done laundry
  • organized shelving
  • got a branch off our roof that we've been trying to figure out for weeks
  • told us how adorable our baby is
  • and so much more!

On Monday we had our first trip to the pediatrician! Since Jason had to go back to school, Bebe went with us. Lily grew 1/2 inch (19 1/2" now!) and weighed in at 6lbs, 12 1/2 oz. Lily also got her first shot, which she did NOT like, but we survived!

We noticed Lily has begun to look intently at things. She is particularly captivated by this quilt that Jason's Aunt Linda sewed for her. I don't blame her, I can't stop staying at it either!
Kristin, Justin, Jack, and Kaden came over on Wednesday and made a delicious dinner. Jack help his cousin for the first time!
We love visitors! On Saturday, Lily met our friends Kim, Geoff, Mike, Carrie, and Cadence. Since Lily has been spending more time awake and alert, they actually got her see her eyes open!

We've been having fun with our perkier baby doing fun things like tummy time, singing, reading, and staring at ourselves in mirrors. We are mostly getting good sleep and Lily has been hungry hungry, and that's pretty much all we can ask for the second week! We are heading to the pediatrician again soon, and have our fingers crossed that we are back up to birth weight!

XOXO to all!

Lily's First Week

What a magical time! Our little bundle kept us very busy during the first week. We were lucky that Jason was able to stay home this week, and we had lots and lots of visitors and helpers. Mostly, we got to spend lots of time together getting to know our little Lily.
Our big news for the week was when Lily became a "Bili Baby." At our postpartum visit to the hospital, we discovered that Lily's bilirubin levels were elevated, and the pediatrician prescribed phototherapy to treat the jaundice. We were so nervous they were going to ask us to check back in to the hospital! Luckily, we could do the therapy at home. A nurse came each day we were on lights to draw blood, check her bilirubin and weight, and give us tips on "power-feeding" the baby. We think all new parents should have a nurse come check on them every day, that part was pretty fabulous! We weren't very happy that she had to be on the lights  whenever she wasn't eating, but it did keep us home and focused on recovery. On Friday, we got the great news that her levels had dropped low enough to stop the lights. Now our job is to get her back up to birth weight!

Lily loves to suck on her hands, and occasionally finds a thumb! We also joke that her favorite activity is trying to claw out her own eyes...yikes, baby!

On Tuesday (before lights), Jason read Lily her first book, "Oh the Places You'll Go." As you can see, she loved it.

On Thursday, we gave Lily her first bath! She fell right asleep in the warm water. Hopefully she will be a water baby!

Once we were off lights and not having to keep her stripped for every feeding, we could finally start to wear the boatloads of adorable clothes we've been collecting for her!
Before we knew it, Lily was already one week old!

1st Valentine's Day!!

Lily was excited to celebrate her first Valentine's Day.  Somehow she found time to go shopping for presents for both Mommy and Daddy, as well as posing for this Gerberific photo opp:

Happy Valentine's Day!

Later, she hammed it up in front of the camera for Daddy while he made a little intro-film for his 2nd graders.  She's a movie star in the making.

Lily's Bella Baby Shots

Jason and I feel so lucky that our hospital offers professional photos of all their babies. At only one day old, Lily already had fancy photos of her little self. We couldn't be happier to capture this special moment. The grandparents bought us the disc of images (thank you!), and we've already ordered boatloads of prints. Let us know if you want any!
