Katy is Married! - Baby's 1st Wedding and a weekend in Stevenson

Lily is officially a road tripping baby! We have been cruising the NW on three long road trips the last three weekends and she has been a great little traveler! We are so happy!

This weekend we were off to Stevenson, WA, to celebrate the wedding of our friends, Katy and Marcus.

We drove down the Oregon side, along the historic highway. The Columbia Gorge is stunning!

There are tons of waterfalls to see, and we could only hit a few. We sneaked in some pre-wedding hikes while the wedding party was working hard getting ready for the big event.
Multnomah Falls

The hike to Bridal Veil Falls
Katy and Marcus brought together friends from all over the country, which made this wedding extra fun. We also enjoyed an amazing view from the wedding location!

CMC girls Emily, Rachel, Michelle, and Meghan...plus Lily and me!

Congratulations Katy and Marcus!!

Brehm Family Reunion! - 5 Months

We had a great time at the Brehm family reunion in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho this weekend! Lily loved all the time with Great Grandparents, aunties, and cousins who stole her every chance they got (and took over lots of baby duties so J and I could do things like ride boats and tubes and swim off the dock!). We also got lots of KK time, who Lily is more and more entertained by.

First stop: Breakfast in Moses Lake!
Lily was a great traveler! It was a LONG drive, and we left at 6:30 or 7am on both travel days in order to maximize her sleeping time...and it worked out great!

Dinner at Cedars, a floating restaurant! Reservations for 28...oof!

Lily ate her first solid food....banana!
I wish I had a picture of all the aunties running up the hill, or all crowded around to see Lily chow down on her first solid food. Aunt Lucy can't wait to feed her pepperoni pizza now! See was totally into it...Jason caught the whole this on video (below). If you got this as an email, click here to watch the video on the blog.
Lily is a busy girl lately. This weekend she worked on mastering her rolling skills, started consistently grabbing her toes, and ate her first solid food. She stared down Jason and Papa in the back seat until she could make a tongue "cluck" sound all on her own. Finally, she is really getting some good use of those Friesen pipes...lately it's been hard to take her anyway because she is so busy happily chatting away...LOUDLY!! Luckily we love to hear her talk.
We all had a great time, and can't wait for the next Brehm Family get together!

Baby's First Camping! - 5 Months

We did so much fun stuff this week it's hard to fit it all! We kicked off the week by meeting Woodridge friends at one of our favorite parks, Lincoln Park in West Seattle, for a swimming play date!

We also met the fam at the Aqua Sox game in Everett!

We also did another hike with Nan, Kristin, and the boys. This time we went to Lord Hill in Snohomish. Lily is a fan!

Lily is rolling over! She does it a lot with help, and a few times all by herself! I'm obsessing over collages lately...but isn't this cute!!

We went to several classes at the hospital this week. We took Starting Solids, went to our regular weekly class, Gigglers (my first time back since I went back to work, and I sure missed this group!), and Breastfeeding Your Older Baby (6+ months). All of these classes were with our favorite teacher, Christine. I feel like she is our parenting "coach," and I'm so glad to check in with her frequently. It is so much fun to research and learn about all these new things since we had this little person arrive in our lives. In each of these classes this week we talked about how parenting matters, and how what we do now for our baby's eating habits, sleep, attachment and self-soothing will impact them well into their adult life. Just check out all the benefits for mom AND baby from breastfeeding!
Not to mention all the benefits from the family table. Lily can sit in her chair, and now joins us for family meals. She started "drinking" water from a cup (more like spilling and splashing!).
We JUST got home from our first big adventure of the summer...camping! Lily was a trooper and was a great road-tripping baby and camping baby! We went to Cape Disappointment State Park (formerly called Fort Canby...we used to camp there every summer with Mom and Dad!). Here is her first glimpse of the ocean! She already loves the sound and has been listening to it on her sound machine for months!

We stuck our toes in the sand and the chilly waves!

Lily flew a kite on Long Beach with Daddy.
 Our camping crew!
Thanks for the new tent, Nan and Ron! It was perfect for our new, expanded family!

Lily slept just as well as she would normally at home, which was great! Here she is all cozy in footed PJs, double swaddle, sleep sack, and hat. :) I was nervous about our first night in a tent, but it was great!
