Ta-Da!!
I was so excited to see Lily's school picture! Last year they could never get a picture because she just cried. :( So I was super excited to hear that she didn't cry this year, allowed her picture to be taken, and then to get them back and see this great smile!!
Don't worry, I didn't cry and also got a cute school picture, mostly because I wore my "I <3 My First Graders" shirt along with my team. Ha!
Lily loves school and seeing her friends each day. Some of her buddies recently left, but it sounds like she still has plenty of buddies to hang out with. The class is mostly boys, and she's learning a lot about the characters from Thomas the Train, but also loves to talk princesses and makeup (?!?!) with the girls.
Lily LOVES her teacher, Miss Jenny. Miss Jenny is the ONLY teacher (except last year's teacher, Chandani), but definitely mommy and daddy are not teachers, only Miss Jenny. She's learning a ton of letters and has started to notice them everywhere. Her favorites are still D for Daddy, M for Mommy, L for Lily, K for Kenley, R for Rachel, etc, and of course, W for WASHINGTON! She is happy that Miss Jenny is back from "Canation" (pronounced similar to
vacation). She often chooses books at school. but they must be held facing out just like Miss Jenny, and after she "reads" the page she must show the pictures all around for everyone to see. She's a teacher-in-training already! On the playground she loves to jump from high places and then take off running, while always trying to recruit other kids to jump too.
When we pick her up, she tries to trick us into taking her to the big playground, or mommy's classroom to cut, glue, eat snacks, or sneak out into the hall and take off into the glorious upstairs. Sometimes we even get to see the custodian "vroom." She also loves to scare the crap out of us by walking (running) along the cement wall in front of the school where kids wait for their parents to pick them up. Yikes!
She's been a pretty pleasant carpool buddy this year, since she's discovered that we will change CD on her command (demand!) and change the volume up and down and her request. If Daddy's stories about his day get too annoying, she just sings (screams) ABCs at the top of her lungs until we stop all the annoying talking.
We're so thankful to have her on campus at my school, and that we can still all carpool together!
